MAISIE

When Maisie arrived we were shocked, she weighed in at

 18kg -

I have
honestly never seen a BT that was that big, in fact as you can see from
Maisie Day 1 - she looked little like a Border!! As her weight
gradually dropped off, this beautiful little girl appeared.

  She does
unfortunately not like "some dogs" when out so has to be muzzled but we
have been able to let her off the lead with Rocky and they leap around
together which is lovely.

In the home she is a typical cuddly BT who
knows how to make the best of any situation - taken to all family
youngest being 4 months and oldest being 84 years (My Mum who has
Alzheimers gets extra special treatment and sits beside her all the
time when she comes home).

Maisie has also helped our BT Rocky who was
pining after losing his Grandma Ruby who was 15.
We had Maisie spayed
beginning of December and she weighed in at 11.7kg so Vet was happy to
go ahead as she kept having phantom pregnancies, bless her!
Took her
to be weighed again this morning and she is now 11.2kg - she has coped
really well with having her food well controlled - though she does
circle round Rocky and his bowl until he's finished - there is no
chance there will be anything left over, but Maisie lives in hope!!

 We
will continue to work on getting her weight down!
All in all she has
settled in very well and its been so nice to see her develop - she now
chases balls, raggies, very partial to "putting up birds" at every
opportunity!, exploring the quarries and fox holes where we live.

 I
think the most surprising moment was when we found her in one of my
largest garden pots, possibly 3ft off the ground, leaping around like a
lunatic!! she is rarely still, always busy sniffing and blowing and
finding life exciting which is lovely!

Thanking Border Terrier Welfare for allowing us to adopt this
mischievious BT she has really bought so much into our lives !

SADIE

I am writing to thank Border Terrier welfare for providing me with the best companion anyone could have wished for in life.

I was fortunate enough to find Sadie through BTW in November 2003 when she was 11 years old and her previous owner had passed away.

There was some difficulty finding a home for a dog of her because of her age and mild epilepsy but despite having only recently registered with BTW she fitted my circumstances perfectly and I was happy to take her sight unseen. When I picked her up she turned out to be so pretty, with a definite bossy nature from day one...a real character, and we clicked almost immediately.

When I suffered from a long term illness, Sadie was there for me, on good days we were out and she bounded around, on bad days she was happy just being good company and encouraging me along. Just two weeks short of her 19th birthday, Sadie sadly passed away, having helped me back to full health over the years.

I think we both gave each other a second chance at fulfillment and happiness and I can't encourage people enough to give a rescue border a good home and experience first hand the rewards they will give you for doing so. In time I hope to be able to provide a home for another BT through BTW, but in the meantime Sadie will always be in my heart and memories.

The attached photo shows Sadie at 18 years and 6 months - amazing!

                              SPRING

We rescued Spring earlier this year, we got her from a kennels who had aquired Spring from a puppy farm. She is around 4 years old.
She is the most adoring, loving and sweet little girl we could have wished for, she gets on with our other border Rinty very well. Spring is so calm and laid back you wouldnt realise what she has been through, she had never lived in a house before coming with us, and didnt know how to play. Now she runs free in our garden without a care in the world, with a little spring in her step.
I have enclosed a few photos. One on the day we had her and a current one attending this years borderfest. There is a photo of Rinty & Spring together.

ROSIE

In a couple of weeks we will have had Rosie for a year - how the time has flown and what a difference she has made to our lives - mine particularly as I am with her most of the time.  Within the last 6 months she has become 'at home' - my son visited recently from Sheffield and said that she is now a 'proper' dog!!  I know what he means though, she was quiet at first but now she greets everyone that comes to the house, she never barks when the door knocks though, just has to be there to see who it is.  She allows people to stroke her and she loves to play with her ball on a rope and will keep us going for hours, it we would.  I have just bought another 4 - see how long they last!

We couldn't have asked for a better little girl, she comes when called so we can let her loose in the nearby fields so she can run and play.  We love to go for long walks on the beach and she occasionally goes into the sea, although only to paw level!

ARCHIE
I rehomed Archie just under 4 years ago after I lost my last border to
lung cancer. Archie is amazing and I adore the bones of him. He was
heaven sent to me at a time when I needed a friend most. He fills my
life with unconditional love a gift which is priceless. He is nearly 11
now and pray to God above that we still have many yrs together. Thank u
border terrier welfare for blessing me with Archie cx
